Sound familiar

A normal week with a hot tub in Mesquite

6:52 AM

You lift the cover before your tee time. The water has a haze it didn’t have on Saturday. You added something Sunday. You can’t remember what.

12:15 PM

The pH pad on the strip is somewhere between orange and red. In kitchen light, that could be fine or it could be a problem.

4:40 PM

It’s 108 degrees on the patio. Heat and sun eat through sanitizer, and yours has been losing that fight since breakfast.

10:05 PM

The grandkids get in Friday. There’s foam on the water, and you’re reading a forum thread from 2014 for answers.

there’s a quicker answer sitting on West Pioneer Blvd.

The four readings that matter

What a hot tub water test checks

Most water problems start with one reading that’s off. Find that one, and the rest usually follows.

Sanitizer

Chlorine or bromine

This keeps the water safe to soak in. Too low gives bacteria a head start. Too high stings your eyes and skin.

pH

Usually 7.2 to 7.8

pH decides how hard your sanitizer can work. Let it drift high and you can add sanitizer all week and still get cloudy water.

Total alkalinity

pH’s anchor

Get alkalinity right first. When it’s off, pH bounces around no matter how often you adjust it.

Calcium hardness

The Mesquite reading

Mesquite’s water comes from deep wells and carries a lot of dissolved minerals. Too much calcium leaves scale on jets and heater parts.

Readings change with heat, use and time. Check at home with test strips two or three times a week, and bring a sample in after a refill or when something looks off. Target ranges vary by sanitizer system, so we’ll go by what’s right for yours.

Your phone can pull up 400 videos on cloudy hot tub water. Not one of them has seen your water.

Search is genuinely useful. It probably helped you find this page.

It can’t tell you that alkalinity is the real problem and your sanitizer is fine. It can’t look at the filter you just pulled and say it has one more rinse left in it. It can’t hear that the grandkids arrive Friday and plan your next three days around that.

Some things get solved on a screen. The water your family is about to sit in deserves a real look.

do the reading online. bring the water in.

Everything your test calls for is on the shelf in the same room. If it isn’t, we’ll tell you where to get it.

Water care

Sanitizers, balancers and clarifiers

Good fit if: you want the right bottle, not a shelf of maybes.

Filters

Factory and replacement cartridges

Good fit if: you can bring the old filter in. Matching it in person beats guessing a part number.

Accessories and maintenance

For the checks between visits

Good fit if: your tub runs fine and just needs the small stuff kept up.

Straight answers

What we hear at the water testing counter

Most water problems aren’t product problems. They’re reading problems. Here’s how we handle the four we hear most.

“My strips say everything’s fine. So why is the water cloudy?”

The one we hear most, every single week.

Our answer: Strips are good for quick checks. They struggle with alkalinity and hardness, and the colors are hard to judge in home light. We test at the counter and show you the numbers a strip misses.

“I’ve shocked it twice this week and it’s still not clear.”

Usually said while holding an empty bottle.

Our answer: Cloudy water from high alkalinity and cloudy water from a tired filter look the same. The fixes are different. We find out which one you have before you spend anything.

“I just moved here. My tub never acted like this back home.”

A Mesquite classic, especially from new owners and snowbirds.

Our answer: New water, new rules. Local well water runs high in minerals, and summer heat burns through sanitizer fast. We’ll set up a routine for this valley, not the one you left.

“I don’t want to walk out with a cart full of stuff.”

Fair. Nobody does.

Our answer: If your water needs one thing, you leave with one thing. Sometimes the answer is “run the jets with the cover off for an hour and test again tomorrow.”

How in-store water testing works

You bring the water. We handle the reading.

01

Fill a clean bottle

Rinse the bottle with tub water first. Fill it from about elbow deep, away from the jets and any floating sanitizer. Cap it tight.

keep it out of a hot car. July will change your readings.

02

Bring it to the Mesquite showroom

550 W Pioneer Blvd, Unit 130. Come in within an hour or two of taking the sample. Bring your old filter too if it’s due.

03

We test it at the counter

You watch while we run it. We’ll show you what’s high, what’s low and what’s already right.

04

You leave with a short plan

What to add, how much and in what order. Only what the numbers call for.

05

Come back any time

After a refill, before guests or when something looks off. If you’d rather hand it off completely, our hot tub service techs cover Mesquite.

Easy ownership

Easy hot tub water care, about ten minutes a week

Test at home two or three times a week.
Strips take seconds. Bring a sample in when the colors don’t make sense.

Rinse the filter every couple of weeks.
Here’s how to clean a hot tub filter without wrecking the pleats.

Drain and refill every three to four months.
Then test the fresh fill. Mesquite water often starts high in calcium.

Honest math

The math on guessing

Water care costs real money. Guessing costs more of it, just more slowly. Run the numbers on your own last month.

count it up:

One water test is a few minutes at the counter.

One drain and refill is most of an afternoon, plus several hundred gallons of fresh well water to balance from scratch.

When you guess

When you test

You buy what the video used

You buy what your numbers call for

Add, wait, retest, repeat for days

One reading, one plan

Fix the symptom, miss the cause

Fix alkalinity first, then pH

Drain early when nothing works

Drain on schedule

Two reasons. Mesquite’s water comes from deep wells and carries a lot of dissolved minerals, so fresh fills often start high in calcium. And long, hot summers use up sanitizer faster. Testing every fresh fill and checking a little more often from June to September keeps you ahead of both.
